Dr. Juan Guillermo Becerra was born and raised in the El Paso; also known as Juarez borderland. He provides culturally sensitive and bilingual care to patients of all ages across all stages of life. He graduated from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara with a medical degree and then he completed his residency in family medicine at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center of El Paso. He has also pursued advanced training with a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
Dr. Becerra is an expert with specialization in improving quality of life for patients of all ages with serious illnesses such as cancer, heart failure, COPD, chronic kidney and degenerative diseases. His expertise lies in pain control and symptom management for complex medical cases, principally in oncology. He helps patients manage:
- Stroke-related chronic pain and cancer
- Digestive or Intestinal problems including diarrhea and constipation
- Appetite or hunger fluctuations, sickness, nausea and vomiting
- Emotional well-being and complexities such as stress, depression, tension, anxiety
- Insomnia, fatigue and tiredness
His goal is to create individualized treatment plans, advance care planning, and inclusive health care strategies that address the body, mind, spirit, and sentiments or emotions. He works in a collaborative setting where he engages patients, families, and professionals or specialists to develop long term relationships.
