Palliative medicine is provided alongside patients’ oncology therapies.
Palliative medicine is a medical specialty recognized by the American Medical Association that supports people who are living with a serious illness. Cancer, amongst other illnesses, affects patients very differently, and palliative care provides relief from both the physical and emotional effects that arise from both cancer as a disease as well as side effects of cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy among others. Ultimately, our goal in providing palliative care is to improve the quality of life for both the patient and the family during challenging times.
